Welcome to Umpire Metropolitan Professionals Services (UMPS) Online.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and all the umpires here at UMPS, I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit us. The pride and dedication our members take in becoming better umpires has made UMPS the largest and most respected umpire organization in the State of Illinois. Inside these pages you will find what 37 years of pride, integrity and dedication have built. Whether you are a baseball or softball umpire, coach or just someone interested in obtaining officials for your games, you will find that this site will offer answers to most of your questions and needs.

One of the highlights you will see inside is our approach to training and developing umpires. Since our inception in 1966 our goal as an association has been to promote better baseball and softball by providing professional umpire training to our officials. We were the first association to bring these very training techniques to our membership by having Gerry Davis (MLB #12) and his staff train our members. We did this at no cost to our membership or clients. Keeping the umpire up to date with the changing game is our major priority. The cornerstone upon which we have built our reputation is umpire education. UMPS training staff is comprised of officials who work the big games, umpires who are respected and asked for in the local umpire community. Respected for not only how they work but for their professionalism and dutiful regard for the game. Our instructors carry on Gerry's techniques and philosophies in our yearly training sessions.

Serving this organization as its President and working with officials who take pride in developing their skills has been an honor. I am proud to be a part of the only association which has had at least one member assigned to the IHSA State Baseball Finals every year since 1980. UMPS members have worked many other levels of baseball including NCAA Tournaments, Pan American International, The Little League World Series and ASA National Slow Pitch Softball Tournaments. We also have umpires who carry regular schedules in the Northern Professional Baseball League. We can get you to the level you want to be working!
